WAR SCROLL — COLUMN VIII THE SEVEN CASTS AND THE TRUMPETS [Heavy progressive guitars, driving bass, marching snares, military brass] [Verse 1 — The Slingers] The trumpets sound without ceasing, While the slingers cast their stones. Seven times their weapons are hurled, The priests direct the ordered blows. And when the seven casts are finished, The trumpets of return shall sound. The slingers move beside the first line, To take their stations once again. [Verse 2 — The Three Divisions] The priests shall sound the call to gather, Three divisions leave the gates. The infantry stands between the battle lines, Each division takes its place. The horsemen stand beside the infantry, On the right and on the left. The priests shall sound a level signal, To set the battle ranks in order. The columns spread into formation, Each warrior to his station. Three divisions take their places, According to the battle rule. [Chorus — Heavy guitars, male choir and brass] SOUND THE TRUMPETS! GATHER THE LINES! THREE DIVISIONS! EACH MAN IN HIS PLACE! SEVEN CASTS! THEN RETURN! THE PRIESTS SHALL SOUND THE SIGNAL! ACCORDING TO THE RULE OF WAR! [Verse 3 — The Signal to Advance] The priests shall sound a second signal, Low and steady, long sustained. A signal for the men advancing, Toward the enemy's battle line. Until they draw near their opponents, And take their weapons in their hands. The priests shall sound the battle signal, For the fighting now at hand. [Verse 4 — The Six Trumpets] Upon the six trumpets of the slain, A sharp and broken sound is made. The priests direct the hands of battle, As the warriors stand arrayed. The Levites and the gathered people, With ram's horns sound as one. A mighty battle alarm is sounded, To melt the hearts of those opposed. [Chorus — Thunderous drums, brass and guitars] SIX TRUMPETS! SHARP AND BROKEN! THE PRIESTS DIRECT THE BATTLE! THE RAM'S HORNS SOUND AS ONE! A GREAT ALARM! A MIGHTY SOUND! TO MELT THE HEARTS OF THE ENEMY! THE BATTLE DARTS GO FORTH! [Verse 5 — The Battle Darts] At the sounding of the great alarm, The battle darts are thrown. Against the enemy's battle line, To bring their warriors down. The sound of ram's horns shall grow quiet, But the priests continue on. Sharp and broken trumpet signals, Direct the hands of war. Until the darts have been cast seven times, Against the enemy's array. Then the priests shall sound for their withdrawal, With a low and steady tone. [Verse 6 — The Withdrawal] A level, flowing note is sounded, To call the warriors back. According to this same appointed order, The priests direct all three divisions. Each division follows its own station, Each movement follows the rule. The trumpets govern their returning, As the battle ranks are formed. [Bridge — Marching snares, driving guitars and bugle calls] When the first division casts its weapons, The priests shall sound the alarm. The Levites and the people with their ram's horns, Join together in the call. A mighty alarm directs the battle, As the weapons are released. Until the seven casts are finished, The ordered signals shall continue. [Verse 7 — The First Division Returns] Then the priests shall sound withdrawal, The trumpets of return are heard. The warriors take their appointed stations, Within the battle line once more. The formations take their places, The ancient order carries on. The fallen are named within the writing, The battle rule continues onward. [Final Chorus — Full modern rock band, military brass and male choir] SOUND THE TRUMPETS! GATHER THE LINES! THREE DIVISIONS! EACH MAN IN HIS PLACE! THE PRIESTS SHALL SOUND! THE LEVITES SHALL SOUND! THE PEOPLE WITH THEIR RAM'S HORNS! ONE GREAT BATTLE ALARM! SEVEN CASTS! THEN RETURN! A LOW AND STEADY SIGNAL! THE WARRIORS TAKE THEIR PLACES! THE PRIESTS SHALL SOUND! THE RAM'S HORNS SHALL SOUND! ACCORDING TO THE RULE OF WAR! THE BATTLE IS DIRECTED!
