This song was inspired by a true story from my life. Back then i remember, it was a rough time. Family fights every other day, love life falling apart, and I was just, empty. Felt like I had no purpose, no reason to even get up in the morning. I was sad in a way that makes your chest hurt. So I started using hardcore drugs. At first, it was just to take the edge off, but it turned into two, three years of my life disappearing into a haze. Then one day, I had no money. Couldn’t buy it. And that’s when the real hell started. The withdrawals hit like a storm I couldn’t escape. All day I was crying, my body shaking, my head screaming. But night, night was worse. I honestly thought I wasn’t gonna make it till morning. That’s the kind of pain no one sees, and you can’t even explain. Next day, I was still fighting it. My head was heavy, everything around me felt grey and lifeless. In my town, there’s this big oak tree out in the farmland. I used to go there whenever my mind needed somewhere quiet. So I went. Sat under that tree, hoping it would calm me down, but the withdrawals just kept tearing through me. Sweat dripping, body shivering, nose running nonstop. I hated the world. Nothing felt good. I just sat there feeling like I was falling apart. Then, it started to rain. Not a storm, not lightning or thunder, just a soft drizzle. And then it hit me, the smell. I’ve smelled rain a thousand times, but that day, it was different. That smell cut through all the pain for just a moment. It made me feel something I hadn’t felt in so long… a tiny spark of joy. I was still hurting bad, but for those few seconds, I remembered that the world could still give me something beautiful. That smell, it gave me the strength to believe I could quit. That maybe, just maybe, I could start over. I’ll never forget that moment. It was the day the rain gave me hope. ***********************************************************
