[Verse 1] I kept your note in the sink By the blue chipped plate You said don't wait on me So I learned to wait My keys were cold in my hand Your laugh in the hall Now I carry what you left And it weighs like a wall [Pre-Chorus] Got dust on my shoes Got rain on my coat Every step I take Feels like a joke [Chorus] Bricks in my pocket Bricks in my pocket I walk and I sink Still I don't drop it Bricks in my pocket Bricks in my pocket You said let it go I can't unlock it [Verse 2] The corner store clock Kept staring me down I bought two paper cups Then I turned back around Your name on my tongue Like a cut on my mouth I try to speak light But the weight pulls it out [Pre-Chorus] Got dust on my shoes Got rain on my coat Every step I take Feels like a joke [Chorus] Bricks in my pocket Bricks in my pocket I walk and I sink Still I don't drop it Bricks in my pocket Bricks in my pocket You said let it go I can't unlock it [Bridge] If I throw one away Will the rest still stay? If I open my fist Will you fade today? I heard your car pass by Like a song from far off And the whole hard load Came back with a thud [Chorus] Bricks in my pocket Bricks in my pocket I walk and I sink Still I don't drop it Bricks in my pocket Bricks in my pocket You said let it go I can't unlock it [Final Chorus] Bricks in my pocket Bricks in my pocket I walk and I sink Still I don't drop it Bricks in my pocket Bricks in my pocket You said let it go I can't unlock it Bricks in my pocket Bricks in my pocket If I say your name Maybe I can stop it
