The War Upstairs
Verse 1 Three in the morning and my brainās on fire, Thoughts climbing higher and higher and higher. Every damn memory kicks in the door, I swear Iāve lived this night a thousand times before. No sleep. No peace. No fucking break. Every breath feels like another mistake. Close my eyes and the movie rolls, Trauma keeps collecting fucking tolls. Pre-Chorus So I count⦠One⦠two⦠three drinks. Maybe thatāll shut this engine down. One⦠two⦠three pills. Maybe I wonāt fucking drown. But morning always finds me Right back where Iāve been. Same damn battle, Different skin. Chorus Iām trapped inside a brain that wonāt shut up, Running every red light, never giving up. Iām exhausted, pissed off, running on fumes, Making deals with every demon in the room. One, two, three drinks⦠still awake. One, two, three pills⦠still fucking shake. How the hell do people close their eyes When my mind starts another goddamn fight? Iām not chasing a highā Iām chasing five damn hours of sleep. Trying to outrun the memories That refuse to fucking leave. Verse 2 Everybody says, āJust get some rest.ā Like sleepās a switch inside my chest. They donāt hear the war upstairs, Or feel the panic filling every prayer. Iām sick of counting cracks in the ceiling. Sick of pretending that Iām fucking healing. Some days Iām winning by an inch at best, Some days survival is the whole damn test. Bridge Iām angry. At what happened. At what it turned me into. At every night my nervous system Forgets the war is over. I donāt want another bottle. I donāt want another pill. I just want one goddamn night Where silence Is actually⦠Silent. Final Chorus One⦠two⦠three drinks. Still chasing sleep that never comes. One⦠two⦠three pills. Still hearing every beating drum. Iām clawing toward a morning Where my head quits screaming my name. Iām fighting like hell to stay aliveā And thatās a victory No one fucking sees. Outro Maybe tomorrow Iāll finally sleep. Maybe tomorrow my mind lets go. Until then⦠Iāll keep fighting This bastard inside my own skull.
