Hello Grandpa Antoine, hello Grandma Angéline..
Hello Grandpa Antoine, hello Grandma Angéline. I managed to see you move again, brought to life from two old photos from Glen Nevis, Ontario — as beautiful as you were. I feel so lucky that you chose to marry each other, for surely many eyes must have followed you at the parish of Saint Margaret of Scotland. Otherwise, I would never have been able to ask artificial intelligence to recreate a moment of your youth, and I myself would never have existed. I am deeply moved to see you young, in the full splendor of your beauty — two wonderful people from the countryside, two great hearts filled with love. You, Grandma, who served as secretary to Grandpa Lacombe, the school commissioner, who succeeded in obtaining the very first hour of French at the little country school in Glen Nevis: a beautiful young girl who loved horses, gentle as the tenderness of summer flowers. And you, Grandpa, who worked the paternal land nestled by the parish church near the Rivière Beaudette, you who also worked on the trains that crossed all of Canada, the man who went to harvest wheat in the Canadian West before building barns, houses, and furniture. You are both engraved in our hearts, like the furrows that Grandpa traced, plowed, and harrowed on the ancestral land. So much love, so much work, both in Ontario and in the United States, and later in Quebec. I have always loved you, cherished you in my heart as Pierrot the Dreamer; never, no, never will I forget you.
