No matter what happens that may shatter our lives Or knock us to the ground, We stand up and start to take baby steps, We never stay down. We’ll see life in a different way. It has a way of changing when we walk through and face The painful, most difficult events in our lives. Eventually, we can turn around and look back. Then we can see the distance That time places between us And the major events that have Shaped and molded us Into the people we are today. Sometimes, we are amazed. We can see that we have grown and changed, And time has, ever so gently Become our friend. There's a peace that's come over me. I've begged a God I no longer understand to perform miracles in the lives of those who deny me a right to thrive. I now drop my insistent demands, and in my silence, I now can see the freedom I seek will only come from within. There's a place I'll find to live again reclaim some of what I've lost the rest left behind is such a small cost to restore my life, my sanity to once again join humanity. I'll drop the white flag of surrender at the feet of those, I truly despise, knowing deep inside I'll thrive, come alive, knowing the strength I carry forced me to not give up and just die.
