THE MASQUERADE โ Episode 7: The Woman In The Glove
Mmm... ahh... Mmm... ahh... Put it on... Black silk folded in my hand A little piece of somewhere I don't understand One silver thread beneath the seam Three little letters that belonged to me The stitching looked a hundred years old The fabric warm, though the night was cold I slipped one finger underneath the lace And felt another hand take its place Take its place... Take its place... Something moved beneath my skin Something old was waking in And from below, a melody Was playing where no band should be Who is the woman in the glove? Why does she know the shape of my hand? Why does she move when I stand still? Why does she answer before I can? There's another pulse beneath my own Another voice inside my name And every time I close my eyes I see her wearing my face The mirror held a second scene A woman where my face should've been Black velvet gathered at her throat A cracked white mask, a silent pose I turned around โ the air was bare No footsteps crossed the landing there But in the glass, her gloved hand rose And touched the place beneath my nose Don't turn around... Don't turn around... The mask began to separate A hairline crack across her face And underneath that porcelain white My own two eyes stared back... But they had no light. Who is the woman in the glove? Why does she know the shape of my hand? Why does she move when I stand still? Why does she answer before I can? There's another pulse beneath my own Another voice inside my name And every time I close my eyes I see her wearing my face Tell me what you want from me. What was taken. [Mara] Tell me why you wear my face. [Ghost ] What was forsaken. [Mara] Are you something I became? [Ghost ] Or something you forgot? [Mara] Then why am I the one who's living? [Ghost] Are you sure you're not? [Both Voices] One face in the silver One hand beneath the lace One name across a lifetime That time could not erase She remembers... She remembers... [Mara] Who are you? [Ghost] You already know. [Ghost ] He didn't recognize me last time, either.
