Verse 1 I stand in the room, the silence is loud, my thoughts keep spinning, always in circles. Normally I don't reach for the bottle, but today everything is too heavy and too small. I tell myself, “Just one sip, just one sip,” just to dull the edge, just to forget for a moment. My hand trembles slightly as I unscrew it, the vodka shines golden in the cold light. Verse 2 The first sip burns like fire in my throat, I cough, I choke, but I swallow it down. It burns so badly, like punishment for something I never did — or maybe I did long ago. I breathe in deeply, feel the warmth in my stomach, and suddenly the pain becomes a little quieter. Just one sip, I swore to myself, but my hand reaches for it again, like it's a compulsion. Chorus One sip becomes a second, the second becomes a third, and suddenly half the bottle is already gone. I laugh out loud, the world becomes so colorful, my worries disappear into the golden haze. I dance alone through the dark room, forget everything that hurts, forget who I am. The vodka is a friend, is comfort and is a lie, and I keep drinking because nothing hurts anymore. Verse 3 I talk to myself, tell stupid jokes, laugh so loudly that the walls can hear me. The memories of yesterday, the fears of tomorrow, dissolve into this warm feeling. I feel so free, so light and so strong, as if I could handle everything, as if I weren't myself. Half the bottle is almost history, but I take another sip because it feels good. Verse 4 The bottle is empty, only the last drop runs down, I shake it out as if there were still more. My head slowly spins, the walls are moving, my legs are heavy and my laughter becomes thin. “I’m fine,” I say loudly into the room, but my voice sounds strange, no longer sounding true. I stumble to the couch, sit down and close my eyes, but the world keeps spinning, it won't let me go. Bridge Suddenly I feel sick, deep inside my chest, my stomach twists, sweat gathers on my forehead. The laughter stops, the good mood falls apart, and the darkness comes back, stronger than ever. The thoughts I drowned come floating back up, louder, uglier, sharper than before. I see everything again — the mistakes, the scars, the loneliness that never really left. Verse 5 It gets worse than before, much worse than ever, the fear sits tighter, the sadness runs deep. I gag and tremble, leaning forward, feeling the world crushing me and hating me. “Why did I do this?” I ask myself hoarsely, but the answer is silent, only the vodka knows. I wanted to forget, but now it's worse, the bottle is empty — and I am even emptier. Chorus One sip became an abyss, half became the whole, now I'm lying on the floor and I can't get up. I don't laugh anymore, I only cry quietly, the worries are back and they brought reinforcements. The vodka lied, it betrayed me, it lifted me up, only to make me fall. And I lie here trembling, with an empty bottle, and I don't know how I'm supposed to breathe tomorrow. Outro I won't reach for the bottle anymore… not today… not tomorrow… But the emptiness inside me still screams louder than the vodka ever could burn. One sip too many… and now I am less than I was before. Less than myself. Less than nothing. (oho)
