North Pole Soul Patrol

[Intro – Spoken, Santa] Mmm-hmm… You hear that groove comin’ through the snow? That’s my crew, baby. The North Pole Soul Patrol. [Chorus – Call & Response] Lead: Who’s ridin’ out tonight in the midnight cold? Backing: Soul Patrol! Soul Patrol! Lead: Who’s keepin’ Christmas funky everywhere they go? Backing: Soul Patrol! Soul Patrol! Lead: They got rhythm, they got heart, they keep the season in control… All: They the North Pole… Soul Patrol! [Verse 1] Snowflakes fallin’ like diamonds in the air, But the groove is warm, you can feel it everywhere. Little elves struttin’ with their hats pulled low, Boots hittin’ that beat in the knee-deep snow. Toy bag swingin’, sleigh bells on the two, Reindeer steppin’ like the Stax review. And Santa in his coat with the fur-lined fold— Yeah, he’s the captain of the Soul Patrol! [Chorus – Call & Response] Lead: Who’s ridin’ out tonight in the midnight cold? Backing: Soul Patrol! Soul Patrol! Lead: Who keeps the Christmas spirit steady in your soul? Backing: Soul Patrol! Soul Patrol! Lead: They got rhythm, they got love, they got a funky kind o’ roll… All: They the North Pole… Soul Patrol! [Verse 2] Got a peppermint beat and a jingle-jam swing, A groove so sweet it'll make the angels sing. Workshop windows glowin’ red and green, The funkiest little factory you ever seen. Drummer boy tappin’ on a cookie tin, Mrs. Claus cookin’ while the horns come in. And every gift wrapped with a whole lotta soul— That’s the magic of the Soul Patrol! [Bridge – Spoken Over Groove] Now listen here… If you hear a knock on your door ’bout twelve-oh-four, Don’t you worry, don’t you hide— It’s just the funk slidin’ worldwide. ’Cause Christmas don’t shine ’til the rhythm takes hold… And that rhythm? That’s the Soul Patrol. [Chorus – Big & Gospel] Lead: Who’s ridin’ out tonight in the midnight cold? Backing: Soul Patrol! Soul Patrol! Lead: Who keeps the yuletide jumpin’ everywhere they go? Backing: Soul Patrol! Soul Patrol! Lead: Gonna fill your heart with joy, and bless your weary soul… All: They the North Pole… Soul Patrol! [Outro – Ad-lib & Fade] Lead ad-libs: Keep it funky now… Slide through the snow… Ho, ho, ho with a whole lotta soul… Yeah, that’s the Patrol… Backing: Soul Patrol… Soul Patrol… (repeat & fade) Santa laughs softly as the music fades: “Merry Christmas, babies… keep that soul alive.”
