There are so many ways to make stuffing. Cornbread stuffing Bread rolls or even hot water cornbread. Here's a good bread stuffing recipe and you can change it up from here if you'd like: Ingredients 1 cup salted butter plus more for greasing and baking (like a stick plus four more tablespoons) 1 large yellow onion diced 5 celery ribs diced Salt and pepper 6 cloves garlic finely minced 1 Tablespoon poultry seasoning or ½ teaspoon each thyme Sage Crushed rosemary 8 cups unseasoned dry cubed bread like French bread Can also use seasoned if you prefer See notes* 1 and a half cups low sodium chicken broth plus more as needed** Chopped parsley optional for garnish Instructions Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Butter a 9×13 baking dish and set aside In a large skillet over medium heat melt butter. Add onions and celery and season with some salt and pepper. Saute until soft and tender Add garlic and poultry seasoning and cook a few more minutes. Add the cubed bread to a large bowl Pour over the butter with the vegetables and stir to combine Add chicken broth and stir. You can add more chicken broth if the mixture looks a little dry Pour into the prepared baking dish and cover with foil. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes Remove the foil and bake an additional 10 minutes to get the top crispier if you like Serve immediately sprinkled with chopped parsley if desired or spread with a little more butter But you can also wait to bake until the rest of your food is almost ready and cook then Notes Breadcrumbs: I usually just use whatever I have on hand. Feel free to use sourdough French bread Baguette Or sandwich bread from a bag Whatever you have! For seasoned breadcrumbs: Depending on the type you use They can be small and quite fine Or larger like cubed bread. They may look different than pictured here and cook differently Just keep that in mind Broth: You'll need more broth if the stuffing seems dry; every breadcrumb likes to soak up the liquid differently Make-Ahead Instructions The stuffing can be made 1-2 days before and stored covered in the fridge until ready to bake. If it seems a little dry before baking then add a little more chicken broth Freezing Instructions Prepare without baking the stuffing in the oven Then let cool completely Cover well
