[Verse 1] GPS went dark at the state line Paper map was torn in the rain Told myself that I was doing fine But I was running from the same old pain Missed the exit on the bypass route Ended up on a gravel road Underneath a sky of total doubt Carrying a heavy, heavy load [Chorus] But the wrong turn was the right one! Yeah, the wrong turn was the right one! It led me straight to the neon sign Where your hand first tangled up in mine The wrong turn was the right one! [Verse 2] Now I'm looking at a brand new town Speaking languages I never knew All because a tire went flat down On a highway heading out of blue If I kept it on the painted line If I stayed inside the safety zone I would never know this wild design I'd be sitting in the dark alone [Chorus] But the wrong turn was the right one! Yeah, the wrong turn was the right one! It led me straight to the neon sign Where your hand first tangled up in mine The wrong turn was the right one! [Bridge] [Instrumental: odd-meter synth and fretless slap bass interlude] [Outro] unexpected detour... the best mistake I ever made. The wrong turn was the right one.
