I Got My Crap Together

[Verse 1] I was told, yes I was told, By my friends one afternoon, "Boy, you need to get your crap together, And we'd better see it soon." Well, I took those words real serious, Didn't think to ask them why. I figured they meant exactly what they said— I'm not the questioning type. [Pre-Chorus] Started with a couple little logs, Thought, "This ain't enough." So I rolled up both my sleeves and said, "Time to gather all this stuff!" [Chorus] I got my crap together! Stacked it nice and neat. Built a monument to bad decisions Right beside the street. The smell could knock a buzzard over, The flies all paid their rent. You said, "Get your crap together!" Well... that's exactly where it went! [Verse 2] First it was a little pile, Then a mound, then mountain high. Neighborhood dogs were howling, Even vultures started crying. The raccoons held a meeting, The possums formed a band. Scientists showed up wearing hazmat suits, Saying, "This was never in the plan." [Bridge] So I called my helpful buddies, Said, "You simply have to see! My life's work is finally finished— Come admire my masterpiece!" They pulled up and started laughing, Said, "What have you gone and done?" I said, "Exactly what you told me!" They said, "You missed the point, you bum!" [Chorus] I got my crap together! Every ounce I could acquire. Now it's visible from space And occasionally catches fire. It's got its own ecosystem, Its own weather and ZIP code too. You said, "Get your crap together!" So I figured that's what I'd do! [Breakdown] Well, I was following your advice, You could've been a little more precise! Use your words, don't speak in riddles— Now my backyard's full of...human feces fertilizer! [Final Verse] Now my friends are strangely missing, Haven't heard from them all week. If you climb my giant mountain, You might hear somebody speak... "Next time use a metaphor!" Comes a muffled little yelp. Too late now, they're part of the project— Guess they finally learned to help. me get my crap together! [Final Chorus] I got my crap together! Just the way you said. Now my friends are somewhere underneath it, Probably filled with dread. So if you hand out life advice, Be careful what you say— 'Cause someone like me might take it literally... And dump it all your way! [Outro] Get your crap together... That's what everybody said... Next time maybe just say, "Clean your room instead!"
