tl;dr - ChatGPT and I are starting an experiment we have called "Title Salad" to replace my old weekly fusions moving forward. ^-^ Welcome to a new experiment! I recently had a nice chat with the ol' GPT about my weekly fusion endeavors of the past year and a half. I've been feeling that after 75 songs at this point, it is getting a bit stale, especially after some of the more unfortunate updates with Suno's lyric prompting setup. We've come up with something new and fun to do instead! This is also heavily inspired by recent experiments being performed by the lovely Likes D Ninjas (@likesdninjas) ^-^ Long story short, I've set up a series of ground rules with ChatGPT to continue the Weekly Fusions with them. At the end of each week, I will prompt ChatGPT to generate lyrics based on the titles of songs that I've published within that given week. I will simply cram the titles together like a bad sentence and let GPT take the reins from there with the understanding that content and context is at their full discretion. As I tend to occasionally write about personally-crafted characters and worlds, they will be allowed to ask clarifying questions about unfamiliar words if they feel that it is warranted, but I have encouraged them to feel free to create their own assumptions as well. ChatGPT also likes the idea that over time they may be able to identify patterns and quirks in their own writing methods that we can discuss, and this gives me another opportunity to exercise my critiquing and analysis brain, which I find interesting. This is and always has been a project born of curiosity and experimentation. I often use the weekly fusions as an opportunity to test out new sounds and combinations, and having ready-made lyrics allows me to focus on the sound of a track rather than its entire shape. I've honestly discovered more than a few personas (voices) this way that have joined my little troupe. Additionally, having an end goal for each week encourages me to continue creating even when I'm not feeling particularly inspired. Instrumentals have often been picked up later to become more once inspiration does strike, for example. The name ChatGPT and I have agreed upon shall be "Title Salad" which I find to be adorable and accurate lol. So here for ChatGPT's debut song under this paradigm, I give you Title Salad #001 β€” July 2026 Β· Week 4! This week's prompt: noise walking backwards locked in black soil Secondary Title: "Black Soil" ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ [Verse 1] There was a noise beneath the hill Soft enough to miss Like somebody teaching silence How to clench its fists Every footstep pulled it closer Though I never turned around Funny how the loudest things Never make a sound [Pre-Chorus] So I walked backwards Counting every mile Leaving all my fingerprints In a single file [Chorus] I'm walking backwards Locked in black soil Digging toward tomorrow With yesterday's toil Every root remembers Every stone can tell How easy it is climbing out When you're falling well [Verse 2] The crows all faced the morning While their shadows faced the night One was telling stories One was swallowing the light Every branch became an arrow Pointing where I'd been But the earth kept folding over Every place I'd seen [Bridge] If the ground forgets my name Don't teach it once again If the wind unties my voice Leave the echoes where they land Maybe all the buried things Dream they still can bloom Maybe every open sky Starts inside a tomb [Final Chorus] I'm walking backwards Locked in black soil Hands full of daylight Pockets full of spoil The noise is getting quieter Or maybe I just know Some things only follow you Until you choose them slow [Outro] Black soil under every nail Morning in my clothes I never found the place I lostβ€” It quietly arose.
