[Verse 1] Day four in that hospital room, Another mountain, another wound, Nine long years, and the last two felt Like all the hounds of hell were loosed. I said, “Lord, we’re gaining no ground; We’re pinned beneath the enemy’s fire.” Then through the smoke, I heard You say, “Standing firm is still a victory.” [Pre-Chorus] When you cannot climb the mountain, And you cannot see the end, Plant your feet upon the Gospel; I will hold you where you stand. [Chorus] Hold the line, don’t give up one inch; God has given you a non-slip grip. You may not be advancing, But you’re not being driven back. When you’ve done all you know to do, Stand firm—Jesus stands with you. You are winning when you will not move; Hold the line, hold the line. [Verse 2] A soldier’s shoes can cross the stones, But they can also hold their ground. When every blow keeps coming hard, The peace of God won’t let you down. The enemy may shake the earth And say that you have surely lost, But you are standing where Christ placed you, Redeemed by His victorious cross. [Pre-Chorus] When you cannot climb the mountain, And you cannot see the end, Plant your feet upon the Gospel; I will hold you where you stand. [Bridge] The helmet of salvation, The breastplate guarding me, The shield of faith before me, The sword of victory. The belt of truth around me, God’s peace beneath my feet— The armor Jesus gives me Makes my standing a defeat For every lie, for every fear, For every hellish enemy. I will stand here in the Gospel; Jesus Christ has anchored me. [Final Chorus] Hold the line, don’t give up one inch; God has given you a non-slip grip. You may not be advancing, But you’re not being driven back. When you’ve done all you know to do, Stand firm—Jesus stands with you. You are winning when you will not move; Hold the line, hold the line. [Tag] Not one inch, not one step back; Jesus Christ has planted me. I may not be taking the mountain today, But the mountain isn’t taking me. Hold the line. Stand firm. Victory is standing Where God told you to be.
