Verse 1 Everybody walks in a straight line Same old shoes and the same old signs Same gray walls, same blank face Same little box in the same old place But I’ve got colors in my head Wild ideas I never said A little too loud, a little off-beat A little bit strange from my head to my feet Pre-Chorus They say, “Calm down, don’t stand out” But that’s not what we’re about Chorus Normal is boring We’re done ignoring The colors in our heads We’ll be strange instead Normal is boring No more pretending We were never made To fade into the gray Verse 2 Someone says, “Why do you act like that?” I say, “Why do you dress like a copycat?” We don’t need rules for every move We’ve got our own kind of groove Piano hits and a guitar spark Drums kick in like a light in the dark Bass line running through the floor We came here to be something more Pre-Chorus They say, “Calm down, don’t stand out” But that’s not what we’re about Chorus Normal is boring We’re done ignoring The colors in our heads We’ll be strange instead Normal is boring No more pretending We were never made To fade into the gray Bridge Paint the sky, break the line Make a mess and call it mine Turn it up, let it show Who decided we should all be low? If we’re weird, we’re weird together If we’re loud, we’ll be loud forever No more hiding, no more gray We’re showing up our own way Final Chorus Normal is boring We’re done ignoring The colors in our heads We’ll be strange instead Normal is boring No more pretending We were never made To fade into the gray Outro Normal is boring Normal is boring We’ll be strange instead With colors in our heads
