[Verse 1] Morning came easy Coffee on the step You laughed in the doorway I still felt that pep The whole block looked kinder Even the air felt new I kept catching good signs Just because of you [Pre-Chorus] Nothing got heavy Nothing pulled me down We kept it simple Turned the whole thing around [Chorus] The day was great The day was great I’m still smiling wide The day was great The day was great The day was great Hold me right here tonight The day was great [Verse 2] Lunch on the paper plate Sand on both our shoes Your name on my phone screen Like a lucky-news We took the long way home No need to hurry through Every small little thing Kept landing true [Pre-Chorus] Nothing got heavy Nothing pulled me down We kept it simple Turned the whole thing around [Chorus] The day was great The day was great I’m still smiling wide The day was great The day was great The day was great Hold me right here tonight The day was great [Bridge] If tomorrow gets restless I’ll borrow this light I’ll save how you looked at me Right in my mind [Chorus] The day was great The day was great I’m still smiling wide The day was great The day was great The day was great Hold me right here tonight The day was great
