[Verse 1] I saw the scale in the courthouse hall One side gold, one side crawl Thumbprint stains on the polished wood Same old lie in a different suit The robe was clean, the hands were red Names got buried, money got fed You call it law, I call it stone Cold in the mouth and carved in bone [Pre-Chorus] One for the poor Two for the bought Three for the ones Who never got caught The chain hangs slack The eye stays shut The weight leans hard And that’s the cut [Chorus] Balance breaks Balance breaks The scale leans down where the rich men wait Balance breaks Balance breaks Justice bends, but it never stays straight [Verse 2] I watched a mother in a worn-out coat Hold up a letter like a sinking boat Her boy got ten for a broken pane While a banker walked out clean again Same black ink on a different page Same locked door, same staged-up cage You feed the beast, you crown the fraud Then call it peace and call it law [Pre-Chorus] One for the poor Two for the bought Three for the ones Who never got caught The chain hangs slack The eye stays shut The weight leans hard And that’s the cut [Chorus] Balance breaks Balance breaks The scale leans down where the rich men wait Balance breaks Balance breaks Justice bends, but it never stays straight [Bridge] Take the blindfold off Look what it’s made A polished frame Around a blade I’m not asking nice I’m not asking mute I want the hand Back on the truth [Breakdown] Stone on gold Gold on skin Who gets out Who goes in? Stone on gold Gold on skin Who gets out Who goes in? [Final Chorus] Balance breaks Balance breaks The scale leans down where the rich men wait Balance breaks Balance breaks Justice bends, but it never stays straight Balance breaks Balance breaks Hear the crack in the courtroom gate Balance breaks Balance breaks We were never meant to kneel and wait
