TO THE MOON Country Ballad Written by Christie Korth, inspired by Edward Korth and Jayden Moeljadi Verse 1 I grew up on a workout bench, Little fists up in the air. You'd grin at me behind your shades, Like nothing could compare. You'd point your finger to the sky, Like dreams were coming soon. You said, "Daughter, if we work out hard enough... We're gonna make the moon." I was only three years old... I believed every word was true. Chorus If we work out hard enough... We can make it to the moon. Back then I thought You meant the stars... Now I know You meant the things The world said We could never do. One more mile... One more song... One more sunrise breaking through... If we work out hard enough... We'll make it to the moon. Verse 2 Then one day the driveway changed, The strongest man I'd known... Collapsed before my frightened eyes, And suddenly life had grown. Mom stood beside you every day, She never asked for praise. She taught me what real love looks like, In quiet, faithful ways. When you came home they shook their heads, Said, "He won't be the same." I smiled and grabbed your walking shoes— Narrow Bay became our lane. Every step I cheered you on, Believing like I did at three... If we kept on moving forward... Maybe you'd stay here with me. Chorus If we work out hard enough... We can make it to the moon... Some folks measure victories By money, fame, or rooms. We measured ours In one more step... One more laugh... One more tune... If we work out hard enough... We'll make it to the moon. Verse 3 Years rolled by, the running trail stayed there, Waiting by the bay. Now it was my boy beside me Jayden and Mom running every day. "It's what you know... And who you know..." The words my father gave to me. Knowledge is power... Never quit... Become the best you can be. We'd laugh like Rocky, training hard, "Run, ya bum!" we'd say. Never dreaming life would bring Those lessons back one day. Verse 4 Then life came swinging hard at me, With mountains left to climb. Wheelchairs, oxygen, hospitals, And battles fought through time. Back to Narrow Bay I went, An oxygen tank upon my back. The same old trail... The same blue sky... Just a different kind of track. Then Jayden looked and smiled at me, Like I'd smiled once at you. He said, "Come on, Mom... One more lap... We're still going to the moon." Guitar Solo (Warm, soaring, full of heart.) Flute Solo (The melody begins where the guitar leaves off, like father and daughter finishing each other's sentences.) Bridge You built sheds... You built dreams... You built strength Inside of me. You built courage... You built hope... You built a life That still believes. No... You didn't just build houses... You built me. Final Chorus If we work out hard enough... We can make it to the moon... Not because life Will all work out... Not because The road is smooth... But because love Keeps getting up... When every voice says "We're through." The little girl... The stubborn man... Still chasing dreams together too... If we work out hard enough... We'll make it to the moon. Outro (Only acoustic guitar and flute remain.)
