The Chain of Custody
(Verse 1) Here comes the story of Captain America’s shield, A weapon forged in war, a symbol that never yields. Howard Stark built it from vibranium, Gave it to a soldier who made Hydra run. But when the battles were done and the dust had cleared, The government said, "Hey, let’s keep that right here." (Verse 2) Steve Rogers took it, said, "This one's mine," Fought the Red Skull, stood the test of time. But after the war, when his plane hit the sea, The shield was lost, or was it really? ‘Cause decades later, in a block of ice, They found him frozen—but the shield stayed nice. (Chorus) Oh, who owns the shield? Who's got the right? Is it private property or a government fight? Is it Tony Stark’s or the Pentagon’s call? Or does it belong to the man who risked it all? (Verse 3) Now let’s move ahead to the Civil War, Where Steve and Tony start keeping score. Tony points at Cap, says, "That ain't yours," Steve turns away without a word, leaving behind the wars. But when Steve goes rogue and drops the thing, The government swoops in and tightens the strings. (Verse 4) Fast forward again, now the shield’s in Sam’s hands, He says, "Thanks, but no thanks, Uncle Sam's got plans." So they slap a new guy in red, white, and blue, Call him John Walker—but he ain't true. So Sam takes it back, he’s flying higher than ever, Ranting on the street "Senator you 've got to do better." (Chorus) Oh, who owns the shield? Who's got the right? Is it private property or a government fight? Is it Tony Stark’s or the Pentagon’s call? Or does it belong to the man who risked it all? (Breakdown) (Verse 5) Now let’s pause a moment, let’s take a step back, ‘Cause this debate got nerdy, man, let’s face the facts. Lawyers wrote articles, deep-dived the case, But it’s just a damn movie, not the real world, ace. Yet here we are, on a podcast tonight, Arguin’ like it’s Watergate under the mic. (Chorus) Oh, who owns the shield? Does anyone care? Alexis has gone off to dye her hair? Mark and Robert are in another fight. David and Andrew wish they weren't here tonight. This was the story of Captain America's shield, lots of arguments, little appeal, and though we'll never find an answer to this question, We hope you're entertained by our Eternal obsession!
