[Verse 1] Helium's tile says two at the top, Two protons set its element identity. The symbol and the name tell what I'm reading; The average mass is a different quantity. That decimal reflects a weighted average, Isotope masses and their abundances. A mass number counts protons plus neutrons For one isotope, without a decimal fraction. [Chorus] Across the row, down the group, There's a way to read this room. Learn the address, let patterns show; The table gives me more than names to know. [Verse 2] Sodium's an alkali metal, group one; Magnesium's group two, an alkaline earth. Chlorine's a halogen in seventeen; Neon's a noble gas in eighteen. Many metals conduct heat and electricity; Noble gases tend to react very little. Same-group patterns help me make predictions, With exceptions I still need to consider. [Final Chorus] Across the row, down the group, There's a way to read this room. Learn the address, let patterns show; The table gives me more than names to know.
