So Many Moments

V5.5

Sometimes I think I know it all. Then morning comes and I start again. The alarm cuts through my sleep, another day above me wakes. Coffee’s cold, the screen is glowing, someone’s already won the race. Got a list that never ends, every line says: “Move, don’t wait.” Everybody counts my footsteps, like they somehow know my fate. I write down another line, erase it, then I start again. Maybe somewhere in between I’ll find the answer in the end. Sometimes high, sometimes against the flow, sometimes I have everything, sometimes I let it go. I can’t stop the hands of time — but I can choose what I leave behind. There are moments that can change the plan. Just one minute and you’re not the same again. There are moments when you have to say: “Enough.” Or just keep moving forward though you don’t know where you’ll end up. There are moments — hold on to them. Time won’t ask you if you’re ready when they come. A thousand windows on the block, every one a different scene. Someone’s laughing, someone’s losing, someone shuts the door unseen. One keeps running after money, one just wants to lose the day. Someone smiles and says they’re fine so no one asks if they’re okay. I have taken shortcuts too, that never took me where I planned. Sometimes I was really right, sometimes I just thought I was. Once too much and once too late, sometimes one word changes everything. Now I know a little more — not every loss means you didn’t win. There are moments that can change the plan. Just one minute and you’re not the same again. There are moments when you have to say: “Enough.” Or just keep moving forward though you don’t know where you’ll end up. There are moments — hold on to them. Time won’t ask you if you’re ready when they come. I don’t need to know it all. I don’t need the ending before I start. I just want to know that when my moment comes, I won’t just let it pass me by. There are moments worth staying here to find. One conversation, one person, one small sign. There are moments when the whole world shifts its way. And even if you don’t know where you’re going, what matters is you’re on your way. There are moments — don’t let them pass. ’Cause a whole life is made of moments just like that. So many moments… so many moments… and every one can change something.
