A Goodbye to the Fading Day

Farewell to this very day I close my eyes and call to mind The day that’s slipping by Time and time again we part With the day we’ve come to know Goodbye, goodbye Even if tomorrow never comes We won’t be there to find it out So gently now, I close my eyes Though tomorrow may never arrive Farewell to this very day On days I stumble, I furrow my brow And let out a slender breath On days like that, I run away And bid this day goodbye Goodbye, goodbye Even if tomorrow never comes If today can end, then that’s enough I savor a moment of quiet peace Though tomorrow may never arrive Farewell to this very day To the painful day, farewell To the joyful day, farewell Whatever the day—it slips away Goodbye, goodbye Farewell to this very day
