A Little Mercy

V6

I’m running on empty I need help just getting out of this place I lost the thread back to myself I feel stuck in my own skin A worn-out mess A bad day Something I didn’t mean to be A tired frame No clear plan Just waiting on the end of me I think it’s time I set it down Put my boots by the door I’ve worn this worry to the bone There’s nothing in me left to store I’ve tried to push through and ask for help But the dark keeps closing in My mother’s in the kitchen, soft and still Like she knows what comes to us all in the end I can’t get out of bed, not eating right, I’ve got no gas for nothing I’m clearly not me The spark I used to carry The steps I used to take Have gone quiet for a while While the room keeps getting colder I’ve grown so tired and hollow I’ve shut tight, not letting people close Hiding behind these bedroom doors Knowing every body breaks I am clearly not me Now as I lie here writing this, I know somebody reads And someone hears my call It’s time I headed for A little mercy A little sleep that never asks me to rise
