[Verse 1] I took the bus to nowhere With a peach in my hand One shoe full of river sand And a map I couldn’t stand A dog in a red bandana Kept following me around He stopped at the corner market When the rain came down [Pre-Chorus] Then I saw it spark In the back of my mind A tiny little dare With a crooked outline [Chorus] Popcorn in my pocket I keep it for the walk Popcorn in my pocket It keeps me talking off the block Popcorn in my pocket Yeah, I know that sounds absurd Popcorn in my pocket But it’s my favorite word [Verse 2] The cashier had a gold tooth And a laugh like a horn She said, “Boy, you look like trouble” I said, “I was born” I bought a lime green notebook And a sour gummy moon Then I danced with my shadow In the aisle by noon [Pre-Chorus] Now the whole day tilts Like a tray in my hand One small strange thing Makes the whole world land [Chorus] Popcorn in my pocket I keep it for the walk Popcorn in my pocket It keeps me talking off the block Popcorn in my pocket Yeah, I know that sounds absurd Popcorn in my pocket But it’s my favorite word [Bridge] If the rain turns to thunder I still won’t fold Got a little bit of reckless In a paper bag hold And if you ask me why I’ll just grin and say It’s a lucky little nonsense That gets me through the day [Chorus] Popcorn in my pocket I keep it for the walk Popcorn in my pocket It keeps me talking off the block Popcorn in my pocket Yeah, I know that sounds absurd Popcorn in my pocket But it’s my favorite word
