You checked the mirrors twice again Keys in your hand by quarter to ten I’ve been circling the block outside Engine warm while the streetlights slide You keep asking if it’s all in place I keep staring at the look on your face Jacket zipped and the signal green Nothing left sitting in between I already crossed the line Been there waiting all this time You can stall another minute But I’m already in it Waiting on you Waiting on you I’ve been ready since the room went blue Waiting on you Say the word Flip the switch I’m already leaning into it Waiting on you Go, go I’m set to go Go, go You already know You keep running through the same checklist Phone in your teeth while your hands both twist I’ve been standing by the loading gate Watching numbers blinking while you wait There’s a pressure in the parking lot Like the whole thing moves when you say stop I can feel the ground begin to shake Every second feels a little late I already cleared the wire Hands steady on the lighter If you want it, let it happen No more asking Waiting on you Waiting on you I’ve been ready since the room went blue Waiting on you Say the word Cut me loose Nothing left for me to prove Waiting on you You keep saying “hold tight” I keep hearing “not yet” Heartbeat matching the blinking red One more breath and we’re gone Waiting on you Waiting on you I was ready before you asked me to Waiting on you Doors locked Hands clean Everything exactly where it needs to be Waiting on you Go, go, go You already know Go, go, go I’ve been ready Waiting on you
