The Quiet Transference — The Long Night, pt VI
Wake up bleeding in a church Head still ringing, vision blurred Rain hits glass—I hear no words Whole damn room feels fucking cursed Radio spits when I get near Lights burn white, then disappear Three voices talking in my ear One sounds like me—but I ain’t clear Mud on my clothes, blood on my hands Memories hit from other men House comes down, then burns again I know that room—I’ve never been TV snow when I cross the hall Church lights twitch along the wall Crickets die when I step off Like the whole night knows I’m wrong Heartbeat stutters, then comes back Somebody else breathes through the cracks Doc in my head, wife in the black Every thought got fingerprints attached I say “I” and hear “we” reply Same damn mouth, different mind Try to bury it—waste of time Whatever crossed—came through alive If I run, it runs with me If I hide, it still can breathe There ain’t nowhere left to be— It’s not behind me. It’s underneath... Don’t let it take what’s left of me Don’t let it rewrite everything Something’s breathing in my blood And I can feel it waking up I’m still here—I know my name Still feel fear, still feel the pain If I break and disappear— Remember this: I was fucking here. Blackfall convoy hits the road Black vans crawling through the smoke Six red lasers find my coat Guess somebody saw the ghost Hands where we can see ’em—down. Same guys I used to cover ground Now every rifle tracks me out Like I’m the thing they came to hunt Medic checks me through a shield Pulse jumps wrong, then won’t read clear Monitor glitches when I’m near Nobody says it—but they’re scared Rounds chamber up across the line Flash comes first, report comes late One slug tears straight through my side I hit the floor—then fucking rise Every face I used to know Takes one step and lets me go They don’t see the man below— They see the thing... they can’t control. Steel door shuts, restraints go tight White room humming under lights I tell ’em back up—sound cuts out Hands start shaking all around Glass blows wide across the floor One man drops beside the door I’m screaming “run”—my voice says more Something else comes through my throat Black veins climb along my wrist Memories hit I never lived Doc, his wife, another face All at once—I lose my place Wake up standing in the hall Three men down against the wall Blackfall screams, Containment breach! I hit the rain—before I kill them all! Voices heard together... We remember... everything... Storm dies low beyond the town Corn rows dripping, bent and brown One shape standing farther down Sheriff badge—same empty stare He don’t rush, he don’t say shit Just watches me like he knows this Not my mind, not some shared link Just two bad things—recognizing it Then I hear a little cry Girl comes stumbling from the side Mud on knees, fear in her eyes Wrong damn place—wrong fucking night I yell run, she turns too late Sheriff moves and clears the space I hit him hard, he takes the weight But one cold hand—already grazed her face She drops crying in the mud Sheriff’s gone into the flood I kneel down, pull back her hood Then all the crickets—stop at once Her breathing slows, the road goes still Radio dies beside the hill I know that silence. I know it well. And now it’s wrapped—around the girl. [Final Chorus] [Female] [Gothic Metal, Alternative Metal] [Catastrophic Emotional Lift] Don’t let it take the ones we love Don’t let it live through what we’ve done Doc is dead, but silence stayed Found another life to take I’m still here, but look at her Same dead air around her stirs If this thing keeps moving on— It never dies. It just moves on. Don’t let it take that child tonight Don’t let her disappear inside If there’s still something left to save— Keep her here... Don’t let her fade. Blackfall sirens miles away Girl still shaking where she lay I hear voices start to say— Not her. Not this fucking way!
