Rain Against The Glass

Taxi lights bleed through the blinds… Another New York night… Another lonely window… Rain against the glass again Same old chair I’m sitting in Coffee cold beside my hand Watching strangers where I stand Every streetlight paints the room Gold and blue like fading truth And this city hums so loud But somehow I still feel alone now I hear the thunder in the sky Like old memories passing by And every drop outside my view Feels like another version of you Rain against the glass And memories that never last Neon shadows moving slow On streets I used to know And I wonder who I’ve been Under all this quiet skin While the whole world sleeps below And the rain keeps falling slow There’s a picture on the wall I barely look at now at all Funny how the heart can change But still hold onto every pain Subway echoes down below Like ghosts underneath the road And every siren passing through Sounds like things I never knew Maybe life ain’t about escape… Maybe it’s learning how to stay… Still enough… To hear yourself breathe… Rain against the glass Washing through my shattered past Every light outside the frame Feels like calling out my name And somewhere underneath this storm Maybe I’m becoming more Than the man I was before Staring out this window Rain keeps falling… City keeps moving… And tonight… I finally slowed down enough to hear my soul…
