Roots of Karametra - Into The Green That Grows
There’s a grocery cart half-buried in cattails At the edge of the overflow plain Dragonflies nesting in the wire frame Like the earth forgot it was supposed to stay dead The apartment towers stand hollow now Windows open like tired lungs And somebody painted vines across the concrete Till the real ones finally came I met an old mechanic growing peaches Inside a flooded loading dock He said Funny how the world starts breathing again The second we stop choking it. I am tired of living like a blade Always cutting toward tomorrow I want to belong to something slower Something that still remembers softness Deliver me! Into the arms of Karametra Embrace me! Into the green that grows Pull the static from my bloodstream Wash the ash out from my bones I don’t wanna die in the machine anymore The children play inside the rail yards Turning rusted tanks to gardens Sunflowers rising through old oil stains Tall enough to block the logos And every night the people gather Cooking soup beside the creek Trading songs instead of currency Trading seeds instead of fear Somebody hangs lanterns in the branches Somebody teaches strangers names And for a moment the whole ruined city Feels less lonely than before Maybe paradise was never hidden Maybe we just stopped looking down Forgot the sacred lives beneath us Forgot the language of the ground Deliver me! Into the arms of Karametra Embrace me! Into the green that grows Let the roots rewrite the ruins Let the rivers overflow I don’t wanna serve the hunger of the old world anymore There are forests waiting inside abandoned places Inside abandoned people too And maybe healing sounds less like angels And more like rainwater in broken pipes Deliver me! Into the arms of Karametra Embrace me! Into the green that grows Every flower through the pavement Every hand that helps another Every living thing resisting Is another road back home Deliver me! Into the arms of Karametra Embrace me! Into the green that grows
