[Verse 1] Found you in the hallway basket Folded like a tired napkin Handle bent A little rust Still you open up You trust [Chorus] You’re my leftover umbrella Waiting out the weather for me All the storms that I forget about You just hang there quietly When the sky starts breaking open And the sidewalk starts to shine Oh Leftover umbrella Glad you never said goodbye [Verse 2] Saw your name in faded marker Phone number that I never called Guess someone meant to come back for you Guess the rain just moved on [Chorus] You’re my leftover umbrella Waiting out the weather for me All the storms that I forget about You just hang there quietly When the sky starts breaking open And the sidewalk starts to shine Oh Leftover umbrella Glad you never said goodbye [Bridge] One day I’ll leave you on a train Forget you leaning by the seat (mmm) Maybe someone soaked and shivering Will think “Guess this one’s for me” [Chorus] You’re their leftover umbrella Waiting out the weather for free All the storms that they’re still running from You’ll just cover patiently When the sky starts breaking open And the streetlights start to shine Oh Leftover umbrella Pass the shelter down the line
