[Intro] / ambient subterranean rumble, distant drilling, rigid synthetic bassline fades in / female French whisper, heavy tape delay Mille mètres sous terre... le cœur de fer... (A thousand meters underground... the heart of iron...) [Verse 1] / harsh male baritone, dry 16th bassline A thousand meters down in the belly of the beast Where the sun never rises in the west or the east The black magnetite in the ancient rock Waiting for the blast and the seismic shock The drills are pounding in the narrow shaft The mountain conquered by the miner's craft Above the surface, the city must yield Moving the houses across the open field [Pre-Chorus] #heavy metal kick slam Loading up the charges in the freezing dark! Waiting for the siren and the blinding spark! Tearing out the iron from the mountain's hold! Feeding the machine in the arctic cold! [Chorus] / aggressive male shout, full EBM sequence Kiirunavaara! The heart in the stone! Mining the marrow right out of the bone! #metal stomp #crescendo Shatter the granite and hollow the ground! Deep in the dark where the echoes resound! The city is falling, the people must flee! To feed the industrial machinery! [Post-Chorus] / cold female vocal, distant reverb, minimal beat La ville se déplace... pour la machine... (The city moves... for the machine...) #industrial strike The iron demands it. [Verse 2] / harsh male baritone, tight sequence The night shift descends in the iron cage Writing a line on the blackened page The heavy trains rolling to the ocean port A never-ending battle of the darkest sort The ground is shaking as the blast goes off A cloud of dust and a blackened cough We hollow the earth till there's nothing remains Just empty tunnels and the iron veins [Outro] / beat slows down, heavy kick fades / female French whisper Le noir profond... l'écho de l'acier... (The deep black... the echo of steel...) #distant metal clang
