If Eden is a Myth

V6

[Verse 1] They told me Earth was young and new, Six mornings under skies of blue, But buried bones and ancient light Tell of a deeper, older night. Billions of years beneath my feet— A truth no story can defeat. If science shows a different birth, What happens to the garden Earth? [Pre-Chorus] If there was no forbidden tree, No perfect pair who chose to flee, Then where did all our guilt begin? Who placed this ancient debt within? [Chorus] If Eden is a myth, If Adam never fell, If Eve did not condemn us To suffering, death, and Hell— If there was no original sin Passed down through human blood, Do we still need a sacrifice To satisfy a God? If no one caused the fall of man, What must a savior save us from? If Eden is a myth— What does salvation become? [Verse 2] Perhaps we rose from ancient seas, Through countless lives and branching trees, Not molded fully from the clay, But changed through ages day by day. No single moment innocence died, No serpent whispering at our side— Just human minds that learned to choose, To build, to love, to harm, to lose. [Pre-Chorus] If death existed from the start, Before the first believing heart, Then was it ever punishment— Or simply how existence went? [Chorus] If Eden is a myth, If Adam never fell, If Eve did not condemn us To suffering, death, and Hell— If there was no original sin Passed down through human blood, Do we still need a sacrifice To satisfy a God? If no one caused the fall of man, What must a savior save us from? If Eden is a myth— What does salvation become? [Bridge] Maybe myth can carry truth Without pretending it is proof. Maybe stories light the way Without describing history. But if the cross was meant to pay A debt no ancestor ever made, Then I must ask what justice means— And why the innocent must bleed. Could Jesus save us from our fear, Teach us how to love while here? Not from a curse within our veins, But from the cruelty we sustain? Could resurrection mean we rise From ignorance with opened eyes? Could grace become a call to live— Not blood demanded, but love we give? [Final Chorus] If Eden is a myth, Then Adam never fell, And Eve did not condemn us To suffering, death, and Hell. If there is no original sin, No debt within our blood, Perhaps we need no sacrifice To satisfy a God. But we may need a voice of love To show what we can still become. If Eden is a myth— A different truth may yet emerge. [Outro] The Earth is old, the questions live, And truth asks more than faith can give. If one belief unravels all— Was truth the threat… Or was the story built to fall?
