Intro - Instrumental] [Driving beat, electric and acoustic guitar blend] [Verse 1] They told me keep it simple, pick one thing and scale Focus on a single product, that's the startup tale Look at Fitbit, look at GoPro, look at Yeti, look at Traeger I said look what happened when the market caught up—they got traded See, simplicity's a trap when your competition's fierce Easy to replicate means easy to get pierced So I built something different, something hard to follow Integration's my insurance, complexity I swallow [Chorus] Complexity by design, that's my moat around this dream Where others see the ocean boiling, I see Amazon's regime Tesla didn't make a car, they built an ecosystem whole Apple didn't sell a phone, they sold integration's soul Complexity by design, yeah, it's harder to build But once you get it running, man, it's harder to kill You can copy one product, but you can't copy the whole Complexity by design—that's how gorillas take control [Verse 2] Content drives the hardware, hardware drives the story Story drives the customer, customer drives the glory Then the customer becomes the storyteller, and the wheel spins again Flywheel economics, baby, that's how we win GE failed 'cause they used finance to integrate their mess I'm using software, culture, continuity—nothing less My org architecture learned from twenty-century mistakes Passion and technology, not leveraged buyout stakes [Chorus] Complexity by design, that's my moat around this dream Where others see the ocean boiling, I see Amazon's regime Tesla didn't make a car, they built an ecosystem whole Apple didn't sell a phone, they sold integration's soul Complexity by design, yeah, it's harder to build But once you get it running, man, it's harder to kill You can copy one product, but you can't copy the whole Complexity by design—that's how gorillas take control [Bridge - Electric guitar solo] I'm playing chess while they're playing checkers on patrol I'm thinking decades while they're thinking quarterly goals Master the complexity, make it look simple to the end That's the paradox of power—easy to use, hard to comprehend [Final Chorus] Complexity by design, it's not chaos, it's a plan Content, tech, and hardware in the palm of your hand They'll say I'm crazy, say I'm boiling the ocean wide I'll say I'm building something worthy of the TYMMBER pride Complexity by design, yeah, it's my competitive edge Easy to follow once established? Baby, I'll take that pledge But getting there's the journey that most people can't sustain Complexity by design—that's the genius of my game [Outro] Where some see problems, I see opportunity Where some see complexity, I see my community Differentiation, integration, systematization Complexity by design—that's the foundation [End]
