[Verse 1] The old stones hold the morning heat The watchmen read the signs A city hears the marching feet And counts its borrowed time But in the quiet, faithful hearts A steadier word is heard Prepare your lamps, strengthen your arms And search the living Word [Chorus] When the desolation draws near Stand firm, do not be moved by fear Learn what is true, let wisdom grow So false roads cannot claim your soul With patient faith and open eyes Keep walking where the promise lies When troubled days are drawing near Stand firm, do not be moved by fear [Verse 2] The letters opened ancient scrolls And showed a better way A worship shaped by cleansed-up souls Not shadows of a day The deeper truth can train the heart To tell the false from right And perseverance does its part When darkness tests the light [Chorus] When the desolation draws near Stand firm, do not be moved by fear Learn what is true, let wisdom grow So false roads cannot claim your soul With patient faith and open eyes Keep walking where the promise lies When troubled days are drawing near Stand firm, do not be moved by fear [Instrumental Interlude] [Bridge] Meet together, hold each other close Let hope become your strength A careful heart will know the course And endure to the end [Final Chorus] When the desolation draws near Stand firm, do not be moved by fear Study the truth, let courage grow And turn from every crooked road With patient faith and open eyes Keep walking where the promise lies Though troubled days are drawing near Stand firm, for God is always near [Outro] Stand firm, for God is always near
