Something Shifted
I wrote this after getting let go. I saw it coming, but it still hit in a way I didn't expect. It's that weird space between "I knew" and "why does this still hurt?" Just trying to make sense of it and move forward. I learned into a vaporwave sound for this one, partly to process it and partly to test out the v5.5 sound. I felt it shift before it showed In pauses stretching through the room People talking around the point Like saying less could make it smooth Nothing sharp enough to name No moment clean enough to hold Just something loosening its place While everything stayed in control I knew... I knew... ...knew... Just didn’t— Didn’t think it would land like this Saw it coming... still something in me broke Something in me—me—me broke Not loud, not sudden—nothing clear Just a drop I couldn’t hear Like losing track of where I stood While saying “yeah... I think I’m good” Saw it coming... didn’t change the weight Didn’t slow it, didn’t hesitate Saw it coming... still something in me— ...broke Still... Still... Still… Time was measured into lines Every hour placed and signed Freedom sitting out of reach Dressed up like a policy Some were kind—I’ll keep that part Some just stayed inside their parts But I could feel it in my chest Something pushing past the rest Cut—cut—cut— I knew— I knew— I knew— Didn’t—didn’t—didn’t— —Stop Strange... I wanted out— Just not like this Or maybe... This is the only way I would’ve left Saw it coming... still something in me broke But not everything that breaks is wrong (...breaks... not wrong...) Some things fracture to move along (…move… along…) I’m still here... just not the same (...not the same...) Something shifted… I can’t rename (…shifted…) Saw it coming… now I see It took something… not all of me I saw it coming... still something in me broke ...So something else could grow Shift... ...shift... Something shifted... ...Shift...
