[Verse 1] You draw a map on the diner napkin Put a blue dot where the highway ends Everybody says, “That road goes nowhere” You say, “Good, then we can start again” [Pre-Chorus] They call it odd when you change the plan Call it strange when you see ahead But the ones who laugh at the crooked line May be following where you led [Chorus] Hey, weirdo, keep that big idea The world’s just late; it’ll get here You’re not too much, you’re out in front Making tomorrow from scraps and hunches Hey, weirdo, let your colors run They’ll call it genius when it’s done [Verse 2] You built a little windmill from a fan And a cardboard box from the corner store Your neighbor shook his head at the racket Now his tomatoes grow by the door [Pre-Chorus] They call it odd when you change the plan Call it strange when you see ahead But the ones who laugh at the crooked line May be following where you led [Chorus] Hey, weirdo, keep that big idea The world’s just late; it’ll get here You’re not too much, you’re out in front Making tomorrow from scraps and hunches Hey, weirdo, let your colors run They’ll call it genius when it’s done [Bridge] So save the notes on the paper plate Keep the sketch with the coffee stain Every “why would you?” can wait its turn Some day they’ll ask how you made it work [Final Chorus] Hey, weirdo, keep that big idea The world’s just late; it’ll get here You’re not too much, you’re out in front Making tomorrow from scraps and hunches Hey, weirdo, let your colors run They’ll call it genius when it’s done Hey, weirdo, keep that big idea The world’s just late; it’ll get here
