All my life I searched for peace Down so many distant roads Sometimes I thought I had found it Then the peace would fade away All my life I chased my dreams Thinking fame would warm my heart Thinking money could end loneliness Still my soul kept drifting on I have walked through all these years Searching for peace in this life Searching in the laughter of people Still the tears kept falling down Until one day I understood Peace was never far away When I finally came back to You My heart found its peace in God There were nights I sat alone Feeling time move slowly by All the failures of the years Returned quietly to my mind I asked You in the darkness Lord, do You still care for me? Then within the deepest silence I heard a whisper in my heart I have walked through all these years Searching for peace in this life Searching in the laughter of people Still the tears kept falling down Until one day I understood Peace was never far away When I finally came back to You My heart found its peace in God I once blamed this changing world I blamed those who caused me pain I carried bitterness within me And refused to forgive again But You taught me how to bow down How to let the past be gone How to love those who had hurt me So my heart could carry on Now I do not ask for easy days Or a road without a storm I only ask when I am weary Lord, please stay here by my side And someday when my steps grow weak When I near the final road I will place my life before You Like a child returning home All my life I searched for peace Through the joy and pain of this world Only when I came back to You Did I understand true peace Peace is not a life without pain Peace is not a life without tears Peace is knowing in the storm That my God is always near All my life I searched for peace Now I do not search anymore For with You inside my heart Peace has finally come to me Though tomorrow storms may find me Though I still may fall and fail I will keep on walking with You Till the ending of my days.
