I Am Your Sin You ask me to forgive, to understand, But I am not one to forgive, nor to comprehend That I was your sin, a burden of shame, Unworthy of love, unfit to name. For years, I waited, unseen, unheard, Always postponed, always deferred. Yet I stood there, longing still And now, I am simply appalled at will. To you, I was a shame to bear, Too distant to hold, too close to spare. You neither let go nor pulled me near, Denying my presence, lost in fear. To you, I was transparent air, Too sheer to see, too light to care. You passed through me without a trace, While drowning in your own embrace. Yet, air I am And unlike you, Someone may need me, like a breath fresh and true. I am your sin, so forgive me for being. Forgive and forget, and go on with your life. Just don’t blame God for shaping me this way. I am your sin! Yet for another, I may be his world, the most precious force to protect. And never forget the blood that was shed, to redeem the weight of this very sin.
