The Rooms I Outgrew

STUDIO

I left the hallway light on Like somebody might come home Every room still knew my footsteps Even when I didn’t I kept wearing old intentions Like a shirt that fit too tight Everybody said I looked the same I stopped correcting them Something in me Moved the furniture Nothing broke It just didn’t fit These are the rooms I outgrew Still standing like they knew me These are the rooms I outgrew With my old shape on the walls I can hear them when I’m leaving Calling me by who I was These are the rooms I outgrew I don’t live there anymore I don’t live there anymore I found a photograph in winter From a year I can’t explain I recognized the coat I wore Not the person in the frame There were plans inside the drawers With dates that never came Funny how a future disappears Without making any sound Something in me Changed the locks Not from anger Just because These are the rooms I outgrew Still standing like they knew me These are the rooms I outgrew With my old shape on the walls I can hear them when I’m leaving Calling me by who I was These are the rooms I outgrew I don’t live there anymore I don’t live there anymore Maybe leaving isn’t leaving Maybe some doors close inside Maybe home can keep your shadow long after you’ve gone outside These are the rooms I outgrew Let them keep the dust and pictures These are the rooms I outgrew Let them keep the version there I don’t need to burn the building I don’t need to curse the past Somewhere between staying and disappearing I became someone else The hallway light is still on But I don’t turn back to see who it’s waiting for. © 2026 Lunarbaby All Rights Reserved
