The Law of Echoes Gritty blues / country style Verse 1 There’s a law out in the wild, boy Older than the pines Older than a preacher’s warning Older than lost time Every word you throw like thunder Every thought you feed Every prayer, curse, and promise Plants a bitter or better seed Verse 2 You can blame the wind for turning You can blame the pouring rain But life ain’t just some jailer, son It answers back your name Every kindness leaves a footprint Every lie becomes a chain Every fire you strike in secret Comes back ridin’ on the flame Chorus That’s the Law of Echoes Call it truth, call it fate What you send out in this old world Comes back to your gate Thoughts, words, deeds, and energies They all roll back somehow You don’t just live upon this earth The earth is answering now Verse 3 If you walk around half poisoned Talking fear into your bones Don’t be shocked when dark comes knocking Like it’s claiming its own If you rise with steady courage If you move with heart and spine Then the road gets strange and holy And somehow the stars align Verse 4 But it ain’t as easy talking As some roadside guru says ’Cause the world is full of false drums And ghosts inside your head You can hear a thousand voices Trying to pull you off your track So you better know your own soul Before you send an echo back Chorus That’s the Law of Echoes Call it truth, call it fate What you send out in this old world Comes back to your gate Thoughts, words, deeds, and energies They all roll back somehow You don’t just live upon this earth The earth is answering now Bridge So choose your words like loaded medicine Choose your actions like a creed Choose the love that makes you braver Not the hunger, not the greed And when the whole world starts shouting Trying to tell you who to be Have the nerve to trust the ringing Of what sounds like liberty Only act on what rings honest What rings clean down in your chest Not every echo’s worth your footsteps Not every fire is blessed Let the false ones die in silence Let the true ones call you home ’Cause the deepest law in heaven Is you reap the sound you’ve sown Final Chorus That’s the Law of Echoes Hard as iron, clear as glass What you send out keeps on travelin’ Then it circles back at last Thoughts, words, deeds, and energies They all return in kind So send forth what’s true and worthy And leave the dead noise behind Outro Yeah, the Law of Echoes Ain’t no myth, ain’t no show What you whisper to creation Is the life you come to know
