(03:05) Catch me if you can (All right) Notes: [🚀] It’s the 1970s. Earth. Two people set up a date to go to disco roller rink, "Galaxy." There’s just one hitch.... She’s a stealth space scout from an undiscovered planet. She adores “Galaxy.” She sends data back and a duplicate of the rink is built on her planet. But the night they meet up, the roller rink on Earth is closed for construction, so their only other option is to go to the “other” one - literally in a different galaxy... 🌍🛸🌌 This track is part of: [🚀] #Cosmic RSVP: [🐼] @Graou [Additional notes] * [🛼] Roller discos, which combined both roller skating and disco music - were popular entertainment venues in the 1970s (primarily U.S.). One of the most well-known roller discos was the Empire Roller Disco (NYC). * [🕺] Everything in the song is a reference to something from 1970s-era culture: (00:08) Macramé holders / (00:09) Pet rocks / (00:11) Lava lamps (00:12) Kojak (TV character) / (00:40) Vinyl records / (00:42) CB radios (00:44) Yoga/meditation / (01:47) Cannabis / (01:45) Mood rings * [🌕] More 1970s-era references in the lyrics: (01:51) Color palettes (green, orange, brown) (01:50 / 02:16) Deco (wood paneling and shag carpet) (02:15) Energy crisis / (02:22) Rise of KISS (rock band) (02:19) Layered haircuts (see: Farrah Fawcett, actor) (02:20) Touring in VW bugs (auto) (02:27) The moon landing (and conspiracies theories about the moon landing) (02:24) “Pong” (video arcade game) / (02:28) "Flower power" (slogan) * [🍿] Offscreen (not in final version): "Star Wars" (film franchise) also debuted in 1977. * [🗣️] The slang is also 1970s-era slang, like “Far out,” “Get down,” “Outta sight,” etc. [🗪] “Far out," "Outta sight" and "Dig it" are basically expressions of enthusiasm for something cool, fun, surprising, or interesting. "Far out" in the context of the song also refers to the name of the roller disco, "Galaxy." [🗪] "Sock it to me" would mean "tell me straight" or "impress me." [🗪] "Come down" would be an informal/friendly invitation to meet someone/others at an event/party. [🗪] "Roll with me" would be to spend time with someone. Also in the context of the song, roller skating together. [🗪] “Get down” means to dance, relax, and have a good time. But sometimes has a secondary meaning (horizontal dancing). [🗪] “Get your groove on” or "boogie down" would mean to dance.
