WAS, WASN’T, WILL BE [VERSE 1, MALE LEAD] There was a time everybody knew the name CROWN caught fire, we were riding that flame Watched it climb, thought it never would end Then the whole damn world came crashing in Some walked out when the numbers went red Some moved on, said the dream was dead But underneath all the dust and doubt Something kept saying, count me out [CHORUS, MALE + FEMALE, BACKUPS BUILD] It WAS Everything we knew it could be It WASN’T Everything it needed to be But it WILL BE Stronger when it rises again Was, wasn’t, will be This ain’t where the story ends [BACKUPS] Was! Wasn’t! Will be! [CHOIR] You ain’t seen the last of CROWN! [VERSE 2, FEMALE LEAD] Now it’s quiet where the crowd once stood But being forgotten might do you some good No more hype, no easy road Time to build something strong enough to hold Every fall leaves something behind Every scar tells you what to get right They called it over, we stayed around Waiting for the day they remember CROWN [CHORUS, FULL BAND] It WAS Everything we knew it could be It WASN’T Everything it needed to be But it WILL BE Stronger when it rises again Was, wasn’t, will be This ain’t where the story ends [BACKUPS] Was!
