No Hand Above Our Own — Ember of Midgard — Nordic Folk Rock

Full English Lyrics [Verse 1 – Male Vocal] They drew their lines across our land, And sealed their laws with iron hands. They named our paths, they chose our days, And taught our children how to obey. But I have heard beneath the stone A thousand voices, not alone. And in your eyes, so fierce and true, I see the world we’ll build anew. [Verse 2 – Female Vocal] They said a woman should bow her head, Accept the road that others led. But every chain they placed on me Became a reason to be free. I do not ask to wear a crown, Or watch another kingdom drown. I only claim what all are owed: The right to choose my heart and road. [Pre-Chorus – Alternating Vocals] Male: No distant throne will speak our name. Female: No foreign hand will stake our claim. Both: We stand together, side by side— With open hearts and fearless pride. [Duet Chorus] No hand above our own, No master on the throne. We choose the ground on which we stand, We choose the future of our land. No hand above our own, Together, never alone. Our lives, our words, our destiny— We choose the road, we choose to be free! [Verse 3 – Male Vocal] I once believed that peace was found By keeping every battle down. But silence built from fear and shame Is only bondage by another name. So take my hand, the hour is near, We will not kneel, we will not fear. Not for revenge, nor fields of gold— But for the lives we wish to hold. [Verse 4 – Female Vocal] And when the drums awaken dawn, We’ll know the age of chains is gone. Not every fight is fought with steel— Some victories begin when people feel. Feel they are worthy, feel they belong, Feel that their voices can be strong. And when they stand from shore to shore, No tyrant rules their hearts anymore. [Pre-Chorus – Duet] No written threat, no guarded gate Can bind the hands that shape their fate. We stand together, side by side— With open hearts and fearless pride. [Duet Chorus] No hand above our own, No master on the throne. We choose the ground on which we stand, We choose the future of our land. No hand above our own, Together, never alone. Our lives, our words, our destiny— We choose the road, we choose to be free! [Instrumental Section] Melodic electric guitars, tagelharpa, nyckelharpa and sweeping Nordic flutes build over deep drums. A powerful mixed Viking choir repeats: “Our will! Our land! Our destiny!” “Our will! Our land! Our destiny!” [Bridge – Male and Female Alternating] Male: Should I fall, carry my name Not into vengeance, not into shame. Female: Should I fall, remember me As one who chose her right to be. Male: No king can own the breath we take. Female: No chain can hold the choice we make. Both: And even when the years have flown, Our children’s lives will be their own! [Final Chorus – Duet and Viking Choir] No hand above our own, No master on the throne. We choose the ground on which we stand, We choose the future of our land. No hand above our own, Together, never alone. Our lives, our words, our destiny— We choose the road, we choose to be free! Viking Choir: No hand above! No hand above! Both: Let every mountain hear our vow— We choose our own tomorrow now! No hand above our own, Our hearts will guide us home. Through every age, through land and sea— We choose the road, we choose to be free! [Outro – Soft Duet] Female: Your hand in mine, the day begins. Male: Not as their servants, but as kin. Both: No borrowed fate, no life unknown— Our hearts, our land, our will—our own.
