HOSI NO MAKIMONO Twenty-Eighth Release: "[HEAVENCHASE] - Lost to Clouds, Rekindled by Dawn" There are no lyrics for this song. Instead, I invite you to listen closely and share with me what kind of story it is able to paint for you with instruments alone. [HEAVENCHASE] is one of the few remaining songs of mine to be made with old, unused sound generations from the past. While I wouldn't call this sample an exceptional one by any means, it carried a solid enough foundation for me to expand upon and explore a character that I had long desired to do more with. This song seeks to portray one that was once noble, upstanding and full of aspirations, who departed on a journey unto the heavens from which it was believed they might never return. Though the long-awaited reunion does finally come, the person they have become is a distant departure from who they once were, stripped away and lost forevermore. Hailing from a land deeply scarred from the ravages of war, they now fly the banner of the opposing side, their once-bright eyes dimmed with lifeless obedience. Even when gazing to the heavens they once sought for, not a spark can be found, now knowing full well what they hold. Thus is the one hailed in recent past as a hero and wise mentor rebranded as a traitor and pariah. Rising to the firmament in their teacher's footsteps come two disciples, who toiled with sweat and blood to pierce the clouds and turn the tides of conflict. At the desolate frontier of the heavens, a confrontation unfolds as they seek to rekindle a solemn, withered heart. Though the memory of them has all but faded, the mentor and fallen hero offers them one final lesson. I hope that [HEAVENCHASE] was able to convey this character's solemn presence and lost heroism to you, and bring you some small sliver of enjoyment in the process.
