Sea of the Heart Some words, even after so many years have passed, still leave me unsure where to begin. The lights, the crowds, the admiration, and the applause we once knew have slowly faded into the sound of distant tides. Over these years, I have faced many silent nights alone, and weathered many surging waves by myself. The sea within my heart is sometimes still and soundless, and sometimes wild with raging storms. And all those people I lost, the words I could never say, the past I had no time to bid farewell to— in the end, I wrote them all into this sea. If dust remains after the tide has fallen, then let it be proof that I was once here. Sea of the Heart is written for the self who has walked alone through all these years and made it to today. Once, outside my window, the lights shone bright, each one seeming to flicker just for me. People envied me for having so much happiness, saying even my silence looked like freedom. But the wind scattered those familiar outlines, and among the lively crowds, I was left drifting. Some names are hidden in the corners of my heart— they hurt at the slightest touch, yet I no longer dare to speak of them. The roads I have walked through these years have been far too winding. I smiled and smiled, until my eyes grew wet. I have so much I want to tell someone, yet I do not know which sentence to begin with. My sea of the heart— no one comes. Through rising and falling tides, only I remain waiting. When it is quiet, it is like a deathly deep blue. When it surges, it rolls every memory back to me. My sea of the heart— no one comes. Even when moonlight falls, it cannot shine into the dust. I hide all my wounds inside my chest, listening to the wind alone, enduring alone. Once, people envied my life, thinking I could never feel loss. Only later did I understand that the silence of fate is vaster than any farewell. In the depth of night, I gaze at the color of the sky, wanting to ask those who have gone far away if they are well. But the world is too vast, and the echo too faint. Only my heartbeat remains, staying with me through it all. How many dreams over these years have been swallowed by the tide? After waking, I still pretend I am fine. With tears in my eyes, I try to be free on my own, yet all I can do is whisper softly to the night. Some love still flickers among the waves. Some pain still rises and falls inside my dreams. It is not that I do not want to speak— I am only afraid that the moment I open my mouth, the whole world will hear how fragile I am. My sea of the heart is still surging. Every silence feels like a confession. I write the people I have lost into the sea of stars, letting them accompany me when I wake in the dark. My sea of the heart cannot be replaced by anyone. No matter how deep the wound, it will slowly learn to let go. If, at the end of life, only I remain, I will still protect this sea within me. My sea of the heart— no one comes. Yet I am still here, waiting for the seagulls to return. If dust remains after the tide has fallen, then it, too, is proof that I was once here.
