(Verse 1) Sun’s creeping up over the Richland County line Coffee’s in the mug, but I’m taking my sweet time Watchin' a white squirrel dash across the front yard Today I ain't hurrying, and I ain't working hard (Chorus) 'Cause I'm just slow poking today Letting the whole rush of the world spin away Ain't got no schedule, ain't got no boss Just counting the clouds and gathering moss Gonna take a deep breath and let it all lay Yeah, I'm just slow poking today (Verse 2) The old pickup truck is parked in the drive It ain't moving an inch, and honestly, neither am I Got a porch swing that's calling my name loud and clear Got nothing but time and maybe a cold beer (Chorus) 'Cause I'm just slow poking today Letting the whole rush of the world spin away Ain't got no schedule, ain't got no boss Just counting the clouds and gathering moss Gonna take a deep breath and let it all lay Yeah, I'm just slow poking today (Bridge) Let folks in the city run their old rat race I'm perfectly fine right here in my place With the breeze in the oaks and the sun on my face I'm setting a much better pace (Guitar Solo) (Chorus) 'Cause I'm just slow poking today Letting the whole rush of the world spin away Ain't got no schedule, ain't got no boss Just counting the clouds and gathering moss Gonna take a deep breath and let it all lay Yeah, I'm just slow poking today (Outro) Just slow poking... Taking it easy in the Illinois sun. Yeah, there ain't nowhere to be. Just slow poking today.
