Who Betrayed You?

My Biggest Betrayal wasn't from a friend who was insecure and frail causing a 20-year friendship to end. Not like Mary who took 5 grand in a tricky slight of hand, blocked my name and number and ran away unencumbered. No, no, no... Not like Chris who I once loved who one day put on the boxing gloves. I stepped into his ring when I said yes, and he slipped the diamond on. I never would have guessed Engagement meant entrapment, it was a sick, obsessive attachment. Not only did he leave me battered and broken so many things I wanted to say, went unspoken. No, no, no... It wasn't the friend I had in school who knew my secrets, then told and laughed with the girls, who were so cruel. I was left alone, and never consoled. No, no, noooo My biggest betrayal came from me from the things I didn't see, the things I had denied the pain that tore me up inside. From the poor life choices I had made, leaving myself a debt to be repaid. I'll walk away when I've been betrayed, there are no more words to be said don't come back and try to persuade the friendship's over, it's dead. But, I couldn't walk away from me, caught in a trap of lies and deceit, I wanted the truth to set me free. I wanted to feel whole again. Complete. The most painful betrayal I overcame was the one that brought so much shame. The only one that I had caused was the one that turned me back to God who granted me release of things that kept me trapped and made life so abstract. and gave me a deepening peace. No, no, no... It wasn't God who decieved me it was God who opened my eyes He allowed me to see it was God who opened my heart to truth I've never had to depart. No, no, no... God didn't betray me, he always stood at my side. I had to learn he gives with only one hand that's something I didn't understand with the other he offers a gift to never be dismissed. It was betrayal that brought me back to God it was God who took the pain and then set me free.
