MERCY 030 – What the Living Build | The Mercy

(Verse 1) In Year Twenty-Seven, no final answer crossed the sky, No voice explained the White or named the reason people die. No nation rose completed from the borders left in stone, The future waited quietly in work the living owned. (Verse 2) They cleared the pumps at sunrise and they taught the seals to hold, They placed each skill in younger hands before the hands grew old. The Witness Houses kept the names that distance might conceal, While radio keepers shared the storms and fever signs made real. (Chorus) The living built with open eyes, though certainty was gone, They carried every fragile trust and handed labour on. No promise kept catastrophe from finding them once more, But stewardship became the ground beneath each careful door. (Verse 3) They opened gates with caution, yet they left a guest a place, They judged the stranger’s conduct, not the sorrow on their face. They raised the Afterborn to owe no vanished flag a debt, And taught them old-world memory was witness, not a threat. (Verse 4) Across the scattered Houses, every orchard marked a choice, Each apprentice learned the duty hidden in a voice. A bridge repaired connected more than markets, grain and steel, It bound the distant living through a promise they could feel. (Chorus) The living built with open eyes, though certainty was gone, They carried every fragile trust and handed labour on. No promise kept catastrophe from finding them once more, But stewardship became the ground beneath each careful door. (Bridge) They could not prove the Mercy spared them from a greater end, They only knew a broken world could still be made to mend. No crown could own tomorrow and no doctrine make it right, The future took its shape from hands that chose to share the light. (Outro) The Paled remained behind them and the mystery remained, Yet every child and working pump declared what had been gained. The world belonged to no old throne, no prophecy fulfilled, It passed into the keeping of what living hands would build.
