Dazed in the cooling breeze, Drifting out from the trees. September wasps, fading year, We watch them fall in fear. [Instrumental jingle] [4-Bar Instrumental Jingle] [Verse 1] Screen door swings to a drone, Yellowjackets on the stone. Heat is slipping low, Shadows where maples grow. Drifting on rotting fruit, A buzzing, final tune. [Chorus] September wasps, on the ground, Falling without a sound. Dazed in the cooling breeze, Drifting out from the trees. September wasps, fading year, We watch them fall in fear. [Instrumental Jingle] [2-Bar Instrumental Jingle] [Verse 2] Down by the lake where light grows thin, The quiet settles in. A lazy swarm in fading gold, Too tired to fight, too weak to hold. On empty porches, floor by floor, We sweep the fallen by the door. From Windsor to the Kingston coast, It's the dying season hurts the most. [Chorus] September wasps, on the ground, Falling without a sound. Dazed in the cooling breeze, Drifting out from the trees. September wasps, fading year, We watch them fall in fear. [Verse 3] Cider glass on the floor, Drowning by the cellar door. Frost is waiting, white, To put these things to flight. Until that night, walk alone, Where rotting stumps have grown. [Instrumental break] [4-Bar Lead Guitar Solo] [Chorus] September wasps, on the ground, Falling without a sound. Dazed in the cooling breeze, Drifting out from the trees. September wasps, fading year, We watch them fall in fear. [Outro] [2-Bar Outro Jingle]
