As it Burns

I have seen the mountain Weathered the storm Stood staring out beyond the ocean I have traveled far and seen more than I wanted to I have stood at the shores Empires are conquered when boats burn Life is only given to the most determined Not necessarily the most gifted And it hurts And it hurts As it burns I have seen God within myself, I thought of towers built with belief And watched them fall Mislead by who I was, But I’m not lost they tell you what to look for and what to keep. They tell me what I should see, But no one explains, why And it ends And it ends As it burns They tell you what happened, And what should be remembered, They tell you who to be, But they can’t see who you are. The world takes, Always wanting more, You Still want more, You Still want more, I have seen and I see more than most things, I've seen a world they cannot measure, No matter how I said it, no man can measure the weight of his own dreams, or what they'll be worth after the end of everything. I am, I have seen God within what they claim to see And it falls, And it falls As it burns
