The Source of the Story The inspiration for the lyrics comes from Tolkien's mythology, mainly from The Silmarillion, specifically the events surrounding the fall of Angband and the destruction of the Elves following Fëanor’s Oath. Angband: Morgoth’s fortress in northern Middle-earth, filled with darkness, fear, and fire. Fëanor’s Oath: The vow made by Fëanor and his sons to reclaim the Silmarils at any cost, which led to untold tragedy. The Enderi: The "Days of Fate," a little-known detail in Tolkien’s mythology that hints at crucial moments of change and destruction. The Fall of the Elves: The gradual downfall of the Noldor due to their arrogance and mistakes. The Lost Home: The line "Úva i mar, ná nuruvané…" ("Home shall not be, all is doomed…") refers to the loss of Aman (Eldamar), the exile of the Elves, and their fate never to return to their original homeland. [Verse 1] Through the mist of shattered time, Ancient voices mourn the crime. Under moons of silver fire, Fades the song of lost desire. [Chorus] Ai! Lómë naurëa, mornië caita! (Alas! The fire of dusk, darkness lies upon us!) Shadows rise where stars have died, Doom resounds, the Enderi cry. [Verse 2] Echoes of a fallen grace, Bloodied hands and empty space. Elder kin with weary eyes, Bound to fate that never dies. [Chorus] Ai! Lómë naurëa, mornië caita! (Alas! The fire of dusk, darkness lies upon us!) Shadows rise where stars have died, Doom resounds, the Enderi cry. [Bridge] The iron halls of blackened stone, Feanor’s wrath, a curse unknown. Oaths were sworn and blades were drawn, Now we march where light is gone. [Outro] Úva i mar, ná nuruvané… The sea calls, but none shall sail, Bound in sorrow, doomed to wail.
